What’s On at Chelmarsh Parish Hall

NEWS – PARISH MEETING ON THE FUTURE OF THE HALL

Please read the following regarding the future of the Hall, as misinformation is circulating!

The Chelmarsh Parish Hall Management Committee is a registered charity, made up entirely of volunteers. As such it has a number of voluntary ‘Officers’, such as Chairman and Treasurer, and other members who are elected or co-opted and may have specific roles.

Each year all posts come up for re-election at the AGM. In March 2027 some Officers will be resigning after several years in their roles. At the moment no-one else has come forward to take on these roles. So that we can have a handover period to take full advantage of their experience, we need to have replacements in place soon. The Chairman and Treasurer have NOT yet resigned and continue to work for the good of the hall as before, but if the roles of Chairman and Treasurer cannot be filled by the end of November, the charity will not be able to continue, as we have a 3 month notice period in the lease, and these roles are a requirement of the Charity Commission. This would mean that the village has to look at surrendering the lease to the Diocese, which owns the building. This is likely to mean the closure of the Hall and loss of this facility to the village.

There is a meeting scheduled for Monday 9th November 2026 at 7.30pm at the Hall for all residents in the village to discuss the future of the hall and committee. Please attend!

Arts Alive

We are pleased to announce that our Autumn Arts alive programme starts on Friday 23 October at 7.30.

The first show of the season is 54 North, a dynamic Folk, Blues, Country fusion Band guaranteed to get toes tapping and voices singing.

Each member of the band is a multi-instrumentalist, bringing a unique blend of harp, violin, canon, brass, keyboard guitar, ukulele and mandolin to the stage. Expect an evening packed with rich vocal harmonies, infectious energy and a generous dose of humour, complete with lively stories all combined with outstanding playing and a sense of fun. With 54 North you are in for a fun night of music laughter and entertainment.

Regular events, activities and groups:

Chelmarsh Parish Hall has many regular events, activities and groups, including Parent and Toddlers, Walking Group, Arts Alive, Art classes, Exercise and Yoga classes, Games Group, and Short Mat Bowling.

Mondays:

Chelmarsh Walking Group

Meets every Monday 10.00am. We return to the Hall around 12 noon for a cup of tea and biscuit. Contact Jen Everitt on 07861 567962.

Parent and Toddlers

Short Mat Bowling (winter)

Yoga with Dani

Thursdays:

Latino Low & Tone

Mel runs weekly classes at Chelmarsh on Thursday mornings as follows:

9.30am – 10.15am: Latino Low & Tone. £6 per class.

A mixture of low impact latino style moves combined with toning exercises.

Book Club

The Chelmarsh Book Club meets on the third Thursday of each month to have a chat about the latest book. For more information please contact Jen on 07861 567962.

Games Group

Meets on alternate Thursday afternoons at 2pm for board and card games (second and fourth Thursdays of each month, September-April) – why not come along and learn a new game? Contact Sue Jackman on 07531 008876.
